When you were recommended for Shankar’s On the
spot drawing competition and you would paint the usual painting you knew – mountains,
sun, a cottage with smoke coming out, a river flowing from the mountains, few
birds and a couple of trees. You were considered exceptional if you could paint
something different.

When school picnic meant standard visits to
Rajghat, Shantivan, Red Fort, Birla mandir, Dolls museum and Qutub minar….where
I would try to make a wish at the wishing minar (the legend was that if one can
place his back with the pole and take back both arms around it towards back,
clasp your hand and make a wish, it will come true….remember when our wishes
were very small like a new toy.

When you visited the Coca Cola Factory from your
school and brought back that typical ‘Red round serving coca cola tray’, it use
to be in every house in our block
