-          When during war days your family had pasted thick black sheets on glass windows for that perpetual ‘blackout’ sirens in the night to avoid lights shining out and you enjoyed playing in the Z-trenches (meant for air raid shelters) dug near your home during the day and rushing out to them in the night when the 'blackout' sirens went off;
      Black out rules for vehicles were- white painting strips on mudguards, bumpers, running boards was done for night driving in the city during BLACKOUT. It included painting the headlights with black paint, with little portion left open.

 -          When death of a National leader was dreaded because there would be no music or TV programs due to 3 day national mourning and you had tough time bearing bhajans & shastriya sangeet. You felt as if life and happiness has come to a halt.

-          When bathing in winter with hot water from a 'Hamam'  where water boiled continuously over a wood fire was fun. Heating immersion rods and geysers were unknown.
