paise) and the egg seller used to come to our home, an old stubborn but very
sweet sardar jee with white beard, dressed in white pathani suit( I used to
wait for him) and you couldn’t haggle with him.

Vegetarians excuse please but for 24 Annas (1.50/- approx) you could buy a Kilo of quality goat meat
with 'gurde', 'kapure' and 'kaleji' complimentary with it (Chicken was not popular).
All you had to do is ask the old man to dip his big hand (he was a stout white
haired muslim bhai – Mulla jee) in the bucket of water and fish out those (terribly
expensive now) meat accessories.
